Abstract- Neutralizing Cybercrime

Scholars have successfully studied how techniques of neutralization are related to a wide variety of cybercrimes in both qualitative and quantitative studies. Most of these studies, however, only focus on one specific cybercrime type. This study examined the relationship between various techniques of neutralization and digital piracy, computer hacking, and online harassment within a college sample. The analyses examines whether the relationship between specific techniques of neutralization and cybercrime is conditioned by cybercrime type. The implications of the findings for our understanding of how cybercriminals and deviants use techniques of neutralization to justify their behavior will be discussed.
